Dancing Queen

Finally, Gracie was able to take a dance class! She's the cutest little dancer we've ever seen! She had so much fun learning some jazz and ballet!

T-ball-n-it Parker

We signed Parker up for T-ball through the City of Mesa, but when we got to his first game we realized it was learning the very basics of T-ball. Phil, Gracie and I had fun playing with Parker as he reviewed some skills!
I love this picture of Phil...it cracks me up!

!Character Award!

Gracie was awarded the Character Award for Kindergarten at the school assembly! Gracie's teacher chose Gracie out of the class because of her "outstanding character." Gracie, we want you to know what an awesome award this is! This special award says so much about who you are and about the way you treat others. We couldn't be more proud of you!

When Gracie's grandma asked her what character meant, Gracie's reply was, "Well, I think I'm a nice person because I feel it in my heart."

Swimming in March?!

For the record, Gracie and Parker are swimming on the 17th of March! The water in the pool was still cold and their cute little chins were shivering away, but that couldn't keep them out of the pool on this warm hot sunny day!

The wait is over...

We are officially headed to Sioux Falls, South Dakota! Phil will start pathology residency there July 1st. We are planning to move the first part of June. Bye bye sun and warm, happy weather! We will miss you! :) Even though I hate the cold and the snow, there are so many great and positive things about Sioux Falls. Phil and I really feel like this is where we should be and we know it'll be a great place for our family for the next 4-5 years. I'm excited for Phil to be able to work at this hospital because he was so impressed with it when he went for his interview and it really sounds like it's going to be a great place for him! The kids and I will find ways to enjoy ourselves inside for 8 months of the year when it's too cold and snowy to go out! Just kidding (but not)! :)

The plan is that Phil will do 4 years of residency followed by 1 year of a fellowship. The fellowship year is a year focused on a specific specialty related to pathology. Sioux Falls currently doesn't offer any fellowship programs, but they said they are working on getting some in the next few years. So that means if they do get the fellowship programs in place, it's likely that we'll stay there for our 5th year. If they don't, then we'll be moving somewhere else for the 5th year before Phil finds a job and settles down. I am so impressed with Phil's ability to keep going through all this! I did fine going to school when I was younger and just out of high school. But in my old age of 30 (haha), I'm getting burned out in just 1 1/2 semesters! :) Phil has gone to 5 years of undergrad, 4 years of medical, and still 5 more years to go! What a trooper!

One thing that is going to be hard for us is not being able to see all of our sweet families as often. I can't imagine any of mine and Phil's siblings wanting to vacation in Sioux Falls :), but just know that the invitation is always open! We love our families and truly are grateful for all of the support they give us. We have wonderful parents who do all that they can to come visit us as often as they can and we really want them to know how much we and the kids appreciate that. It's not cheap and it's not easy leaving their responsibilites to come, but we love it when they do and we love the memories we'll have with them forever!

So for the next 2 months we will take in all of the sunshine and warmth we can! We really have loved it here and will miss it, but we look forward to the next chapter in our life!

A Day in the Life of Parker

Parker absolutely loves to dress up! Mostly as super heroes, but he's not afraid to show his feminine side every once in a while either! :) Thank heavens for super good mark downs at the after Halloween sales! For a while Parker wanted to go everywhere in his costumes. After a few times of trying to convince him it wasn't a good idea to wear his costumes out in public (months after Halloween) and listening to him throw a huge fit, I decided this wasn't a battle worth fighting. He wanted to wear them to the store and to go pick Gracie up from school nearly every day. People would always say how cute he was and he just ate it up. I think the end is coming near to this phase of his life, or at least for now, but I wanted to capture Parker in all his costumes first.
